| i hit an armadillo today.
with my bike.
it lived. i screamed.
i rode on. | | |
| a ten-year-old boy urinated on me today.
i was working the zip-line and after i had ensured that this boy would, indeed, be safe...i felt water splashing against my ankles. i looked down to discover that said substance was actually urine and it was quickly soaking into the wood below me to make more room for the steady flow.
boy did not acknowledge that anything was abnormal. instead, after finishing, he merely asked "is it ready?"... as soon as i calmly yelled ladder clear, unhooked his safety line as though my feet weren't covered in his urine, he quickly jumped off the platform....no sign of fear, no sign that he had peed on himself--and me in the process.
i wish ignoring things like that made them really not happen.
we eyed the harness he was wearing, to make sure it received a good cleaning...
i wonder if people really remember moments like that when they get older, or if they simply choose to ignore them and then forget about them...because ultimately, they're pretty humiliating. i hope he's already forgotten it.
i suppose the one good thing is... not everyone can say they've ever been urinated upon.

| i've been summoned...
for jury duty.
on may 14th-- the day all the counselors arrive for training.
irony, sweet irony.
i don't think i've ever been summoned before.
i don't think i like it much. | | |
| i recently discovered that i have some gray hairs. no big deal, just a few here and there...
but then today i discovered that i have gray hair. lots of it.
i'm getting old.
and i'm not even 23 yet. | | |
| until my roommate's dog hated it. Katie (the roommate) is gone for the weekend and Lucy (the dog) is still here. While I usually enjoy Lucy and her fleas...tonight has been a bit of a battle for us. While Katie warned me of Lucy's hatred of thunder, I ignored it and thought, "surely not!"... well, she wasn't lying.
in other events, I saw 300 today and loved it--gore and all. and then we turned right around after walking out of the movie theatre, purchased tickets to TMNT and walked right back in. I can honestly say I've never done that before...
suffice it to say, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles today aren't necessarily what they used to be when I was growing up. while I had completely forgotten about Casey (or that he and April were dating--rather, living together), I was still hoping for Shredder or Krang to show up and was left slightly disappointed. Highlight of the movie: at the resolution of the movie (turtles beat the bad guys--sorry if i ruined it for you....), out of the 8-year-old birthday party in front of us, the mother started clapping. I always hate when people clap at movies...and I've been to several where people applaud at the end. But to be the lone clapper before the movie is even over, and one of the few adults in the theatre....? That is a new level of.....something.
Here's to good 'ol slitherin' Krang, anyway...
and I still like thunder. and Lucy. Just not together.
